Having your wedding in the Riviera Maya is just about the best idea you could have! As long as you bring us as your photographers of course! I’ll be posting personal photos from our trip to Tulum later, but first order of business is to show off Layne and Brett’s fun, stylish wedding at Generations Riviera Maya Resort. You’ve seen them on the blog before, we did their engagement session and Layne has modeled for me. She’s the makeup artist I work with on almost all of my shoots, Blush Beauty and Makeup, and Brett owns QC Exclusive magazine which we’ve shot for too. Layne started planning a wedding in Charlotte, but quickly became overwhelmed with the choices and decisions to be made, which I think happens to a lot of brides. Though planning a wedding in Mexico didn’t necessarily have less decisions to make, the resort made it easy for guests to stay in the same place and all wedding things to be provided at once. They also received some nice perks like a 2 night voucher for next year when they want to go back. If you aren’t the resort type but still want the beauty of the Riviera Maya for your wedding in a little quieter of a place, I highly recommend El Pez Tulum where we stayed for part of the week, and will be blogging about later.
This day was really special to both Brett and Layne who have been through some ups and downs together and have a deep and meaningful relationship. SO glad we got to be a part of it and spend some time in such a gorgeous place! There wasn’t much sun this day, but just before we got to the location below, the sun came out and those famous puffy Riviera Maya clouds came out for a little bit. Just for us!
First looks. My FAVORITE part of the day. If you’re thinking about a first look, or not thinking about a first look, DO IT! Almost all of our couples do now and it is absolutely the most special time of the day and allows for the best wedding photos of the two of you. Forget those old “traditions” that really don’t mean a darn thing!
Are they NOT the most stylish bride and groom ever?! Groom’s, take note. Black tux or rented suit is not necessary!
Layne told Brett years ago that he had to sing at their wedding. He totally surprised her by singing All of Me by John Legend at the reception. Um…awesome!
