How to Use Your Bridal Party
Choosing who will be the most important people at your wedding is exciting! Here are 4 things you should be using your bridal party for to make sure you have a happy and relaxed wedding day.
Give your bridesmaids and groomsmen the responsibility of making sure the getting ready room is neat and tidy before the photographer shows up. I can’t tell you what a relief this is to us, and it gives us more time to get those intimate photos rather than us having to clean it up or get the bridal party to do it for us when we arrive.
Your maid of honor and best man should be safekeeping the rings for you and should know where they are at all times. Make sure you choose people who are responsible!
Give the most responsible and on-time bridesmaid and groomsman the timeline and ask them to help everyone stick to it. It may seem like you can be as late as you want to be at your own wedding, but the reality is you only have a certain amount of time for everything to happen and being late makes things very stressful. Ask me how I know!
Ask the most tactful ones in the bridal party to run interference on overly enthusiastic guests and family for you. Its wonderful that people want to see you ASAP on the wedding day, but when everyone is trying to push through the doors to see you, those precious minutes for getting ready and getting photos done can be gone in a flash and you’ll find yourself late and stressed. The reception is for seeing all your guests and family, so make sure your bridal party is protecting that time before and not allowing people to steal all your time.
These are all things we have found ourselves doing at weddings, but take away a lot of time and effort from us when we really should be fully on our game to create those gorgeous photographs you hired us for. The bridal party is there to be more than just a party group, so make sure to put them to work to make sure you have a peaceful and joyful wedding day. The very happiest weddings we photographed have been the ones where the bridal party was extremely supportive and kind, looking out for the couple and each other and making sure the day ran smoothly.
